The kind of personalities in people you want to avoid

1. Manipulative Mary: These individuals are experts at manipulation tactics. Is a matter of fact, you may not even realize you have been manipulated until it is too late. These individuals figure out what your 'buttons' are, and push them to get what they want.

* Why they are toxic: These people have a way of eating away at your belief system and self-esteem. They find ways to make you do things that you don't necessarily want to do and before you know it, you lose your sense of identity, your personal priorities and your ability to see the reality of the situation. The world all of a sudden becomes centered around their needs and their priorities.

2. Narcissistic Nancy: These people have an extreme sense of self-importance and believe that the world revolves around them. They are often not as sly as the Manipulative Marys of the world, but instead, tend to be a bit overt about getting their needs met. You often want to say to them "It isn't always about you."

* Why they are toxic: They are solely focused on their needs, leaving your needs in the dust. You are left disappointed and unfulfilled. Further, they zap your energy by getting you to focus so much on them, that you have nothing left for yourself.

3. Debbie Downers: These people can't appreciate the positive in life. If you tell them that it is a beautiful day, they will tell you about the impending dreary forecast. If you tell them you aced a mid-term, they'll tell you about how difficult the final is going to be.

* Why they are toxic: They take the joy out of everything. Your rosy outlook on life continues to get squashed with negativity. Before you know it, their negativity consumes you and you start looking at things with gray colored glasses yourself.

4. Judgmental Jims: When you see things as cute and quirky, they see things as strange and unattractive. If you find people's unique perspectives refreshing, they find them 'wrong'. If you like someone's eclectic taste, they find it 'disturbing' or 'bad'.

* Why they are toxic: Judgmental people are much like Debbie Downers. In a world where freedom rings, judgment is sooo over. If the world was a homogeneous place, life would be pretty boring. Spending a lot of time with these types can inadvertently convert you into a judgmental person as well.

5. Dream Killing Keiths: Every time you have an idea, these people tell you why you can't do it. As you achieve, they try to pull you down. As you dream, they are the first to tell you it is impossible.

* Why they are toxic: These people are stuck in what is instead of what could be. Further, these individuals eat away at your self-esteem and your belief in yourself. Progress and change can only occur from doing new things and innovating, dreaming the impossible and reaching for the stars.

6. Insincere Illissas: You never quite feel that these people are being sincere. You tell a funny story, they give you a polite laugh. You feel depressed and sad and they give you a 'there, there' type response. You tell them you are excited about something and you get a very ho-hum response.

* Why they are toxic: People who aren't sincere or genuine build relationships on superficial criteria. This breeds shallow, meaningless relationships. When you are really in need of a friend, they won't be there. When you really need constructive criticism, they would rather tell you that you are great the way you are. When you need support, they would rather see you fail or make a fool of yourself.

7. Disrespectful Dannys: These people will say or do things at the most inappropriate times and in the most inappropriate ways. In essence, they are more subtle, grown up bullies. Maybe this person is a friend who you confided in and uses your secret against you. Maybe it is a family member who puts their busy-body nose into your affairs when it is none of their business. Or maybe, it is a colleague who says demeaning things to you.

On the plus side

My fellow brethren Nick and I were smoking hookah and drinking a beer a couple hours ago, watching deadliest warriors recorded. One thing we look forward to: A time for our bodies to recover. You know how in the summer time you party? well for us, it's a time to recover haha. Not really looking forward to too many parties this summer.. i could hardly drink a beer tonight. Let me rephrase that, I am not looking forward to drinking/smoking/whatever as much this summer. It would be great to see people, at parties. I'm sure there are sober people at parties too right? You don't have to take substances to have a good time at parties..right? right? right? i hope so.. ha ha.
I can't sleep, my body is not used to me being sober and up on a thurs night/fri morning. Last time that was was..um..um. fuck i can't remember.

Another summer task to accomplish

Being that it is summer, and you probably have partied yourself already, you might be saying, "now what do i do?" You should make a list of things to accomplish in the summer.
I did, and I added one, learn to become very well versed in the art of grilling.

Bobby Flay is the man! (And I think he does coke on the side too, but that's not why he's the man) This guy, is the Iron Chef. Anything with the prefix "Iron-" That's saying a lot. Like Iron Man, you don't want to fuck with Iron Man. And you don't want to fuck with The Iron Chef. He also owns a couple restaurants and has a Throw down w/ Bobby Flay on Food Network. Yeah he loses sometimes, but I like the fact he challenges them anyways, knowing that's their specialty.

So, with that said summer is hot. No shit right? Well it's a great time to grill, the sun's out a nice chilled beverage on your side, your sunglasses to block the uv light because it's harmful and you probably have a hang over your trying to hide. I would like to get good at grilling, make great healthy food, and it's something that you should just know. Well I feel it's something I should know. Grilling/BBQ is as summer as tank tops and shorts. And who knows, when my skills become good enough, I may just invite you to come over and hang out.

that's my grill

Down And Out

"now that i'm grown, i've seen friendships fall to pieces
weekend warriors and our best friends the writers weren't
kidding but all good things must end then again some things
are far too good when you let go."- William Beckett

Not being biased or anything but I think this song's great haha.
A certain part of this song is about friendship and growing away.
I related to this song when there was the transition from high school summer
to college fall.
Now it hits me again, but this time I understand more.
Nothing lasts forever, unfortunately including the "good times"
They were fun, but they must end, don't you think that's what makes them
even better? Imagine having a "good time" for the rest of your life,
sure it would be great, but it would become boring. It loses that
passion, that excitement, the fact you know it won't last forever,
you cherish the moments that much more.
I do not get as sad when friends part for the summer or for a period of time.
Why? The good times happened at a certain place, but they can always be re lived
and be cherished again in our hearts and minds. Also, for those that are reading
and we are close, and have not spoken in awhile, I would like to say hello and
wish you the best, and i did not forget about our friendship. I know we do not
keep in touch as much, but that's alright. I understand we are both busy, productive
people. And I am glad you and I realize this and do not get bummed out we do not keep in contact as much. So keep doing your thing and I wish you the best of success

Positive Role Models in Hip-Hop

I am not saying there are not any, it's just they are hard to find mainstream wise. Especially with the lyrics that come out of their notebooks (or in jay-z's case heads).
A ton of hip hop music out there is positive, just not many songs of that calibur make it to the airwaves or television. Surprisingly, your friendly neighborhood pusha Malice (1/2 of the Clipse) is one of them. This gave me a much higher level of respect for him. We forget that many times music is just entertainment (even Eminem admitted he just says some of his songs just for kicks. Check out 'Stan')and Gene here did not. Seeing this video is like Johnny Knoxvile and Steve-0 sponsoring skateboard protection gear. It's nice to see that some of these artists actually do have morals, and are great parents/husbands/people outside of the recording booth, and when they step out of the green screens when making music videos. Matter of fact, he explains it in his first vlog. I posted up the vlogs on here for your viewing convenience, so you don't have to open another tab or window and check them for yourself.

the good times will live in our hearts

This semester was my best one so far, here are some reasons why this one topped the others:
- Most importantly, I proved to myself I could climb from rock bottom. I climbed out of the hole that was self made. And I proved to others that I could, even when they have faith in me. It hurts me sometimes they did not think I could make it, but it fueled me at times. Forgive me for what I have done. Yet at the same time, I forgive you and turn the other cheek.
- I resumed my academic career this winter semester.
- I learned how to deal with negative situations, and try to make the most of it.
- I improved on not letting petty problems ruin my day, or anything ruin my day.
- I met genuine friends. I am very thankful, they always come rare and in few numbers.
- I let go of many resentments towards others; I know holding to them is unhealthy.
To hold on to them is like to let someone grip your throat and slowly apply pressure.
- Improved on time management; although I have ways to go.
- I was able to help others out with dilemmas regarding school and relationships,
it felt nice to have another chance to help others out; succeeding this time around.
- I truly felt engaged in my classes, I learned to like the class thus I was engaged to
do homework and read.
- I kept more of an open mind, towards criticism and opinion.
- I learned to distance myself to a degree from everyone, I tend to get tangled in their problems when I should not.
- I learned that if you really care about someone; you want them to be happy above all.

Well with the seriousness set aside, I partied the fuck out of Thursdays ( and some other nights). Me and the boys, and the girls, FUCKED the shit out of Thursdays nights. My boys from 247 and the sneaky girls, we made beer pong nights (sneaky bp nights) a tradition, It was as if it became as much of a tradition as going to church on sunday mornings. The official sneaky BP was January 20 on a friday. I was excited to be back in school, so we bought 3 30 packs. I passed out and puked. Every thursday til last night was a beer pong night. Atleast 2 30 packs every thursday. We also had bp nights that were not on thursdays. Have to hand it to Ralphs, Caguama Cerveza is the shit. Great price, great taste. I even asked the cashier who buys the most Caguamas, we do. We calculated that we spent $500+ alone on beer. Thank You for those who participated, we became close and thanks for making great memories.

Seems like today is the last day of school

Finals for the most part are finished, some people have a couple more to take down. Other than that, it feels like school's officially over. Judging by the facebook stats, it seems like a great day to relax and get wasted tonight...hey that sounds like not a bad idea. Well, with that in mind here is a movie that suits the occasion, Dazed and Confused. Check it out, and drink some beers and light one up watching this. So to all of those who are done, congratulations summer is at your front door knocking with a thirty pack of bud light. RAGE ON! And the roomate's out to get those small bbq grills, just in time for the summer. go get one, it's cheaper than always going out for food, and healthier.

Proper: Kennygshit

I've known this guy since late high school years, very talented rapper. we go way back, smoking djarums, and other medically accepted smokables.

Me personally, I like this movie. Jet Li and Jason Statham. I think this was one of Statham's better roles in his movies (Crank, Transporter etc.) He also did well in Italian Job. Cool storyline to it, some hottie asian girls if you have yellow fever. But yeah, check it out. If you have time warner cable, it's on HBO premium channels.

Why Vampire Den?

Why is it called thee vampire den? Because i like to close my blinds and turn on the ac in the day time. The weather heats up, and I like to stay cool, and sun light free, as a vampire den should be

First day of summer and the first day of this blog

I feel like a father right now, because my baby was born today. This blog.
I finished my last and only final yesterday. I didn't know what to do with myself. I had a nice quiet night to myself last night, watched tv, ate captain crunch and went to sleep watching food network, and king of the hill.
About a week ago i made a list of things i must accomplish in the summer, one of them was to get my driver's license. Yes i'm 21 and I do not drive. Well i'll tell you car owning people this:

- My driving record is immaculate, like virgin mary's womb (sorry).
- I do not spend money on insurance, gas etc.
- I can have never been the designated driver, so i'm not bitching out on taking beer bong rips, and playing multiple games of beer pong,
while you have your hands crossed at the party envying me getting shit faced.
- Accidents, ouch :[
I'm reading the pdf driver's manual as I type.

Since summer school is expensive and I don't drive, I will purchase a college algebra textbook and a french textbook so I can read and learn in the summer without going to class. That way, I will be ready to take on those classes in the fall. I switched my major today too, from bio to nutrition/dietetics. Oh and i saw weedad today :] that's like seeing a comet that comes around every 1000 years. Okay, i'm exaggerating but yeah.
